Jim Rohn Was a Master at Helping People Change Their Thinking

It’s vital for success in any endeavor that you are able to reach outside of the box with your thoughts. This is so because the mind is creative. We are each creating our day to day realities with the thoughts that we think, and the by virtue of what we give our attention to.

We are basically creating life by default. And that’s where personal development or growth comes in. I loved to listed to Jim Rohn because he had such confidence and surity that when you put your mind to it, you can accomplish miracles. He is right.

What we are not so good at understanding yet thought is that we created everything we are living. Some people will say to that, “Nonsense! I would never create the way I am living right now!” And I agree. You wouldn’t do it on purpose, but you have done it by default.

Many people shut down right there. They refuse to believe that what they are living is their own creation. They shut down right before they get to the good part. If you created what you don’t want, you are still in the position of creator. And that means if you don’t like what you have, you, and only you, have the power to change it.

Do yourself a favor and listen to Jim Rohn, or one of the many other wonderful teachers out there, or even better, get your hands on The Abundance Course. you are not expected to know how to change your life without help. The teachers are there, waiting for us to appear:-)

“I made $35,902 in my first 90 days with this one-of-a-kind opportunity!”

Unless they also disclose exactly what the average person can expect to make in that same time period (per company stats) and the steps taken to get there.

For instance ‘Randy’ would need to disclose it if he had spent $10,000 on Google ads and tapped into his existing network of 2500 people to earn the $35,902 in 90 days, or whatever he actually did to make that unusually large amount in such a short time. Because that is an unusual amount, and most will never duplicate it, not just in 90 days, but never.

Network Marketers are Being Forced to Tell The Truth

But will they? I think most will try. But this is new so we’ll  have to wait and see. Meanwhile, the best thing to do if you must involve yourself in MLM is to determine (before joining the company!) how many customers you will need to make the dollar amount you want each month. Or if recruiting is your thing, how many recruits. In other words, do your homework by knowing what you want before you join.

This is the exact opposite of what has been happening. Usually, the new person is accosted, er, approached by someone they know, shown the plan and they get all excited and join right away. This is bad because they most likely didn’t start that day wanting to go into business for themselves, and they have no clue what it takes to succeed in MLM (5 years and $5000 – or thereabouts).

And with the Internet, it has been even worse. You Google network marketing and up pop thousands and thousands of “opportunities” for you to choose from. Each one promising more money than the last. These guidelines will begin changing all of that. Hopefully this will stop a lot of potential victims, er, new reps who never make a dime, from getting started in the first place.

All that said, is it surprising that I prefer affiliate programs (my current favorite is a new way to buy and sell items via online auctions, with no final value fees – look out eBay!) and cash gifting? These days we all have many choices, and so we don’t have to go down the MLM road to nowhere (for 95% or so, anyway). We can make a different choice.

I’m actually excited about these changes because it means that most of the enticements used by the network marketing industry like endorsements by heavy hitters or celebrities, will require full disclosure. Are they paying Ms. X to say what she is saying about their health product? Are the results of Mr. X Heavy typical? If not, what is the combined average of all reps, so Mr. Normal can know what he’s getting into, please?

Whenever I write about this, I like to include a definition of and some synonyms for, the word average, since this is about what you can expect when you get involved with MLM:

I always put my main keyword in the first sentence of each post, which also helps with SEO. I have some other tricks that I share only with those who are gifting with me and who ask. I wait to be asked because this new gifting program I am in allows anyone, regardless of their experience with Internet marketing, to do well.

This is so because once you join, we offer you a built-in marketing system that you just set-up via Google Adwords, fund and collect your gifts. If you don’t even want to do that much yourself, you can join the co-op and just make your payment each month based on the number of shares you want. A share determines how many unique visitors your website will receive each month.

You can do it without having to host your own website because they are included, no charge when you gift at the $500, $1500 or $3500 level. I have not found another cash gifting program that does this.

Why I Chose Cash Gifting Over MLM

We went to Vermont for Thanksgiving and I was not in blogging mode, yet I still managed to post without being anywhere near a computer (one of those tips I mentioned above:-) I have to say that it beats MLM with a stick, since you have to stop everything around the holidays (or accost, er, I mean “share the business” with your friends and family which is what you’ll be told to do – UGH!)

One of two things happen at this point. You either get so much flack and negativity from your loved ones, or you lose momentum and your business either peters out or you need to re-enthuse yourself somehow to get back into the swing of things (a convention maybe? Better go or you’re not serious!) The holidays have put more than one network marketer out of business.

With gifting, you are not required to approach people you know to push your idea of a great income opportunity on them. Using the Internet, you have only the people who are interested in gifting programs visiting your free websites. If they want more info, they sign-in, whether it’s Thanksgiving, Chanukah, Christmas day or any other day that puts the brakes on the MLMer’s. I get some flack for my feelings about network marketing, but so be it. If it works for you, great! As I always say, that usually means you have deep pockets or a large network to tap into already. Good for you!

But back to the fun stuff – food! We have a traditional Thanksgiving meal with turkey, stuffing, gravy and all the fixings and it was awesome! I managed not too eat too much – just barely.

I made the cardamom rolls, which are not exactly a widespread tradition. but they are a tradition with my husband’s family. They sounded weird to me, too, at first until I tried one. They are actually delicious, just a regular white dinner roll recipe with crushed cardamom seeds added in. Oh and my fresh pumpkin pie came out great!

But what I love most about this program, being a busy work-at-home-mom, is that it is as close to hands-off as I have seen with legitimate cash gifting.  Almost everything is taken care of by the system, so that you can concentrate on what means most to you.

But what’s really happening when you do that? Firstly, someone is coming to your blog thinking you know what you’re taking about regarding your topic of choice. But the truth of the matter is that you bought a bunch of PLR articles and you might have no idea if the author knew his or her stuff, or was just writing from opinion. So when you use PLR on a topic you don’t know personally, you are potentially spreading misinformation around the Internet and into unsuspecting people’s lives.

I have to admit that I’ve put up some sites that have PLR on them. I took the time to read all of the articles and re-write them enough to make them unique. I made sure that they made sense to me. And now I have about 20 sites out there with Adsense on them and some affiliate products that I make almost nothing from, lol!

I feel better having done it an seen the kind of results you get for myself. Because I had heard in forums and in emails from gurus that having a “network of niche blogs or websites” was a great way to make excellent money online. Now I know the truth and share it here so you can benefit from my experience.

The reality (for me) is that even with content that I rewrote enough for it to be unique, I’m still not in profit with these sites, and most of them make me zero income. I found a membership site that automates a lot of the promotional work that you must do to make money from blogs, but honestly even that was a huge time-drain. It was so much more work than it has to be if you just pick a topic you’re passionate about and write for one niche blog or website.

Just keep in mind if you decide to go the multiple blog route as a way to make money at home, you will have to promote all of your blogs/websites. If you don’t, no matter how great they look, or how right-on the information is, no one will ever see them. Paid promotion for one site or blog can be managed, but if you want to have 10, 20 or hundreds you need to have a plan to drive free traffic in place before you choose that route. If you don’t you’re going to be super busy building all of those sites/blogs but that’s all it will be – busy work.

So if you’re looking for a way to make money at home, I suggest you look into cash gifting. I can say that I’ve tried almost everything else in my 14 years online, and this is the only activity I recommend with no reservations.

Who was it that first glorified hard work as virtuous? I don’t know (if you do please comment) but give it some thought. It was most likely someone with a personal and/or financial interest in the outcome of said hard work.

If hard work were the key to success, every laborer would be wealthy, happy and satisfied with their lot in life. Can we agree that isn’t reality? So what is it about money coming easy that spooks some people? I have my thoughts on it, which include public schooling and tradition.

The history of public schooling is absolutely fascinating (and will likely tick you off if you’re not aware of it yet). I highly recommend going to John Taylor Gatto’s website and reading his book, “The Underground History of American Education.” You can read it there for free, or buy it on Amazon, or check your local library for a copy as it’s big and pricey.

We think it was an altruistic endeavor to help people improve their lives but the opposite it true. And don’t take my word for it, go read at least some of the book and see. There are other books like “Dumbing Us Down” also by Gatto, his most recent “Weapons of Mass Instruction,” and “How Children Learn” and” How Children Fail” by John Holt that support the argument that the purpose of schooling is not to enhance our natural abilities, but to mute them. To homogenize us and snuff out individuality and creativity. Sound extreme? Read the books and judge for yourself.

Then we have tradition. Your childhood might have been something like mine in that I was always told “If you work hard and get good grades, you can go to college and work hard for a degree and then you will be able to work hard and make a good living” or some version of that. I was also told I could be anything I wanted to be. It was confusing because if I could do that, why couldn’t my parents? They certainly weren’t working their dream jobs. We barely got by some months…so what gives?

And we can’t blame our parents because they were just repeating what their parents told them, and theirs before them. Education and hard work are the answers to making a living. But really, who just wants to “make a living?” Who reading this has never thought there was more to life than that? Soooo much more to themselves than just what they do for a living? Yet it permeates our society. What’s usually the first thing you ask someone when you meet a new person? “What do you do?” It’s ingrained in us from an early age that our value comes from what we do, our work, our job, our career.

Guess what? The wealthy among us don’t work for a living. They are the one’s who for whatever reason resisted the brainwashing of their schooling (or went to private schools, were home schooled or unschooled maybe?) and emerged without the belief that working for a living was their only option. These individuals start businesses and hire those of us who did get successfully brainwashed, to work for them. And so off we go to work every day, giving our all to some heartless corporation or demanding boss, (I know there are some nice bosses, too, but you’re still being bossed yes?) and daydreaming about what we will do next weekend with our “free time.” If you’re not required to work overtime, of course.

Now that’s livin’!         Ahem….

That depends.

It can be. But it can also lead to more lack and disappointment in life if you begin the activity with what you need in mind, rather than with what you can give and share in mind.

Last year I met a woman online who was in desperation around debt, credit card bills and money in general. We talked a lot and I gave her my best advice on how to handle harassing calls from her creditors, and the stress she was feeling.

She really wanted to start cash gifting but was coming 100% from lack rather than abundance. She was desperate and desperation can only lead to more lack. I discouraged her from cash gifting at that time because I doubted she would be able to give from a feeling of abundance with no strings attached. There were more strings there than backstage at The Muppet Show!

So some time passed and she called me again. She said she was not only ready to start gifting, but that she had already lined up her first gift! A friend of hers, she said wanted to participate in the activity, too. She sounded much more hopeful, positive and eager to begin.

Well, I was excited for her and so helped her get started (this was last year when I was with a gifting system that was not automated like the one I’m sharing now). I felt better about it because she seemed to really have taken a turn for the better and was in a positive frame of mind.

To make a long story short, she wasn’t and she didn’t receive any gifts (turns out she had lied to me about the friend and her first gift). She was still holding abundance away from her with fear and need.

The people who thrive as cash gifters understand this: like attracts like. The law of attraction if you prefer. When you give a gift, it must be from a place of genuine certainty that “as you reap so shall you sow.”

This quote, and sadly I have no idea who to attribute it to, sums it up nicely:

“Generosity consists not in the sum given, but in the manner in which it is bestowed.”

If you’re looking to cash gifting for a quick fix, please be certain that you can get beyond your immediate fears and needs and give genuinely from the heart. And from a knowing that giving from the heart, from love, is the precursor to receiving abundance in all areas of your life.

By the way, this same issue (mindset) is the main reason the successful sponsors in MLM are so successful. It’s because they have mastered their minds (meaning they make it a point to think consistently about what they want and not about what they don’t want – the mind is creative). This is a big part of why the failure rate in MLM is so high: personal development, the mastery of our thoughts, is necessary to succeed, but ignored by most who attempt MLM or any home based opportunity.

Cash gifting requires participants to give from the heart, with no expectations from those given to. The returns come from completely different sources, and in multiples of what is given when you participate from a feeling of abundance and love. There is no quick fix here, because until you can give freely, with no strings, it is very likely you will keep attracting the same financial situation you have today.

As for what I’ve been up to today, school is being let out early for the rest of this week. So I was playing in the sun with my kids this afternoon. I also got some reading time in with “Dragonfly in Amber,” my own copy of which arrived yesterday along with the next two in the series:-) Add in Dan Brown’s “The Lost Symbol” and I’m all set with fiction for awhile, lol!

Tonight I’ll be working on self-mastery. I do that every Wednesday night actually (with the ultimate goal being all day long, too). I get on a conference call for graduates of The Release Technique. It’s they best way I’ve found not to be dragged around by my ego all day, and to create things in my life on purpose, rather than by default.

And one more thing that really has nothing to do with gifting:-) Since I used to cook and bake professionally before I became a mom, and food is something that everyone has in common, last night I thought of a new Category for this blog: Cash Gifting Gourmet. I’ll put all posts that end up with a recipe in them there, starting with this one. If you’re looking for a recipe for something in particular, post in the comments and if I have it, I’ll share it!

It kills me to hear what some successful MLMers are saying in videos on their websites. I was visiting the website of one well-know successful MLMer today (I have no desire to bash individuals so I’m keeping this anonymous). In a video on his site he actually said, “I’m looking forward to getting to know you better.” Ha, ha ha! That is really just hysterical.

What he and all other successful network marketers really want to get to know is whether or not you have a network, and if not, how much money you can afford to invest to get your business off the ground. If you don’t believe me try it out for yourself. Talk to any heavy hitter and tell them you’re new and don’t have much money to get started. Tell them you’ve worn our your warm market but you’re excited and want to work with them!

Then post a reply here about how they blew you off, or blew smoke up your shirt telling you to get with your sponsor, or get on the next training call. They in no way want to work with you personally, and the truth is they can’t. They are but one person with hundreds or thousands in their downline.

I’m not saying they don’t want you to succeed because of course they do. They just can’t possibly work one-on-one with everyone they attract, but they still make it sound like that is their intention by saying they are looking forward to getting to know you….Ironically, network marketing is the most impersonal business you can build on the Internet. There is nothing lonelier than getting signed up with a new home business opportunity, then realizing that you are indeed going it alone, no matter how warm and fuzzy your sponsor is.

This is just one of the reasons I prefer cash gifting, especially this new system I’ve found. Because you don’t need a downline, so you don’t have to pretend you are the expert (fake it till you make it) to get started, and you never feel alone. You just get started by plugging into the existing system, that is run by experts who are there to support you and everyone you invite. Simple.
